The chatbot is a feature that allows a broadcaster to automate routine messages.
There are currently three states that can have a chatbot response:
- Welcome - when a user joins the room
- Tip Response - when tips of defined amounts are received
- Auto Notification - general messages sent in a rotation
Chatbot is only available during public and private shows.
Message Syntax
You can send a generic message if you wish, but if you prefer to make it appear more personal, you can use {user} within the message. On the viewer's side, they will see their username!
For example: "Hello {user}, welcome to my room!" would become "Hello Joetest, welcome to my room!"
Click the "chatbot" button to access the chatbot menu under the video area.
This will open a menu on the left. You can click which bot you want to adjust.
Welcome Bot
Click the "Welcome Bot" option to see the screen below. Click "Save" once you're happy with your chosen message. If no message is currently set, the button next to "save" will be "enable." Click this to turn the welcome bot on. If you want to turn it off, click the "disable button."
- There is a 5-second delay from joining the room to the welcome message.
- The welcome message will only be sent once every 2 hours per user. So if one person keeps joining/leaving the room, he'll only get the welcome message once every 2 hours.
- The message will appear as sent by the broadcaster (pictured below)
- The message will only be seen by the person receiving it. This avoids the public chat being spammed with lots of welcome messages in busy rooms.
Tip Response Bot
This is similar to the welcome bot, but the messages are sent based on up to six tip thresholds set by the broadcaster. This does not mean the message is only sent when the exact matching value is tipped. In the above example, the first message is sent for tips between 1 and 9 tokens; the second message is sent for tips between 10 and 49 tokens, etc.
The message is only sent once every five minutes per viewer within the same threshold. So, in this case, if this user sent three tips of 50, 50, and 100 within 2 minutes, he would receive the 50 threshold message only once and the 100 threshold message.
Auto-Notification
Broadcasters can set up to six general messages posted in the room every five minutes. They are sent in the order set in the menu. There are strict limitations on when the messages will be sent to prevent the chat being spammed
- Five minutes between each automatic message
- Three chat lines must have been posted in the room by viewers between each automatic message.
- Messages are not skipped; they will recheck in the next 5 minutes to see if they can be posted.
